The horizontal route marker is intended to identify roads that are not identified with the distinctive route marker.
Use horizontal route markers only on roads passable by standard passenger cars during the normal season of use. These are roads for which the travel management strategy is either to encourage or to accept passenger car travel as shown on current maps available to the visitor. A directional arrow may be incorporated on the horizontal route marker.
