Data-Driven Strategies: Building a Safer Pedestrian Environment

overview

OVERVIEW

Since 2010, pedestrian and cyclist fatalities have risen drastically. Factors like larger vehicles, reckless driving and road design have been identified as contributing elements which has led to the next part of the puzzle: how do we keep these vulnerable road users safe?

The answer isn’t always simple, and it can often vary from community to community. Many have implemented pedestrian-focused strategies, leveraged data to pinpoint issues and obtained funding for increased safety.

In our on-demand webinar, traffic experts John Edlebeck (Village of Whitefish Bay), Michael May (City of Wauwatosa) and John Campbell (Traffic Analytics & Design, Inc.) share their real-life experiences tackling the issue of pedestrian safety. The speakers cover:

  • Getting started with pedestrian safety
  • Collecting and utilizing data to inform decisions and funding
  • Leveraging funding opportunities for pedestrian safety
  • Educating communities on changes and safety measures
  • Whitefish Bay and Wauwatosa success stories
